Fibroids
Fibroids are non-cancerous growths in the womb. They can cause heavy or long periods, pressure or a swollen tummy, but many women have no symptoms. Treatment ranges from monitoring and medicines to surgery.
Ovarian cysts
Most ovarian cysts are small, fluid-filled and go away on their own within a few cycles. Larger or persistent cysts are checked with repeat scans and blood tests, and some need removal.
Endometriosis
Endometriosis is when tissue like the lining of the womb grows elsewhere in the pelvis. It can cause very painful periods, pain during intercourse and difficulty getting pregnant. Treatment includes pain relief, hormone medicines and sometimes surgery.

Common questions
Will a fibroid stop me getting pregnant?+
Most do not. Some fibroids inside the womb can affect fertility or pregnancy, and these can be treated.
