Concerns we help with
- Acne in adult women, especially along the jaw and chin
- Unwanted hair on the face, chest or tummy (hirsutism)
- Hair thinning or hair fall
- Dark patches on the face during pregnancy (melasma)
- Dark, velvety skin on the neck or underarms, which can be a sign of insulin resistance
- Stretch marks and skin changes in pregnancy
Our approach
Dr. Maryam will look for an underlying cause such as PCOS, thyroid problems or low iron, arrange blood tests if needed, and treat the cause alongside the skin. Some medicines are not safe in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, so treatment is planned around that.
For skin conditions that are not linked to hormones or pregnancy, or that need specialist procedures, we will refer you to a dermatologist.
A word of caution
Avoid creams that promise "whitening" or "fairness", or that are sold without a prescription and contain steroids or mercury. They can thin and damage the skin. Bring any creams you are using to your visit.
Common questions
Is my acne caused by PCOS?+
It can be, especially if you also have irregular periods or extra hair growth. A few blood tests and an ultrasound can help tell.
Is it safe to treat acne during pregnancy?+
Some treatments are safe and some are not. Always check with your doctor before using any acne medicine while pregnant or breastfeeding.
