Normal delivery: how does Maryam Clinic help you achieve it?

A normal (vaginal) delivery is the safest way to give birth for most women — recovery is faster, hospital stay is shorter, and future pregnancies carry fewer risks. Dr. Maryam is a strong advocate of normal delivery wherever it is medically safe, and the majority of her 900+ deliveries have been normal births.

How we maximise your chances of a normal delivery:

  • Early preparation — weight, blood pressure, and sugar are managed from the first trimester, because complications are the most common reason normal delivery becomes unsafe
  • Third-trimester positioning checks — the baby’s position is tracked and managed in the final weeks
  • Labour support — clear guidance on when to come in, pain-management options, and continuous monitoring during labour
  • No unnecessary C-sections — surgery is recommended only for genuine medical reasons, and the reason is always explained to you and your family

If a C-section does become necessary for your safety or your baby’s, it is performed with full pre-operative counselling — you will always know why.

When should you see Dr.Maryam urgently during pregnancy?

Come in immediately — at any stage of pregnancy — if you notice any of these danger signs:

  • Vaginal bleeding or fluid leaking
  • Severe headache, blurred vision, or swelling of the face and hands
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Baby moving less than usual after 28 weeks
  • Fever, burning urination, or unusual discharge

These symptoms can indicate complications such as pre-eclampsia or infection. Treated early, most are fully manageable. Call 0334 5558654 — do not wait for your next appointment.

When should I have my first antenatal checkup?

As soon as you have a positive pregnancy test — ideally before 10 weeks. The first visit confirms the pregnancy, sets your due date, and screens for anaemia, diabetes, and blood pressure problems so they can be managed from the start

How many antenatal visits will I need?

Usually every 4 weeks until 28 weeks, every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, then weekly until delivery. High-risk pregnancies need more frequent visits, which Dr. Maryam plans individually.

Can I have a normal delivery after a previous C-section?

Often, yes. Vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC) depends on why the C-section was done, the type of uterine scar, and how this pregnancy progresses. Dr. Maryam assesses your case honestly and explains both options.

What increases my chances of a normal delivery?

Regular checkups, daily walking, sensible weight gain, controlled blood sugar and blood pressure, and attending all third-trimester visits so your baby's position can be monitored — plus a doctor who genuinely supports normal birth.

Which ultrasound scans do I need?

At minimum three: an early dating scan, the 18–22 week anomaly scan, and a third-trimester growth scan. More are advised only if medically needed.
